Step 1

First, your application. Who are you?

Tailor your application

  • Customise each section of your application specifically to DWS and the programme you're applying for.
  • Show that your application is not generic but uniquely crafted for DWS.
  • Ensure that your application is free of typos or grammatical errors.
  • An application that is professionally presented shows your attention to detail.

Highlight education and skills

  • Clearly mention your graduation dates, ensuring they align with the eligibility criteria.
  • Highlight any coursework, projects, or extracurricular activities relevant to the position.
  • Specify your proficiency in languages required for the role. Include certifications or experiences that showcase your language skills.
  • Mention how your language skills can be an asset in the role you're applying for.
  • For questions at the end of the application, take time to provide well-thought-out answers.
  • Use the full word limit to express your motivations and align them with DWS' values and the specific programme.
  • Use real life examples and experiences to support your answers, demonstrating your practical knowledge and enthusiasm.
  • Present your skills and experiences that are most relevant to the job and explain how they make you a suitable candidate.

Before re-applying, take some time to reflect on your previous application. Consider any feedback received and identify areas where improvements can be made. If the role is still open, and it’s been at least twelve months since your last interview - go ahead. You’re welcome to apply for other open positions too.

Step 2

Next, the Online Assessment and Video Interview

Tailor your answer

  • Focus on directly answering the interview question.
  • Ensure that your response is relevant and directly addresses the query posed.
  • Structure your answers using the STAR(R)(Situation, Task, Action, Result, and Reflection) method to make them comprehensive and engaging, making sure that you demonstrate the particular skill or attribute the question aims to assess.
  • Begin by setting the scene (Situation), explain what your responsibility was (Task), describe what you did (Action), and discuss the outcomes of your actions (Result). Optionally, you can reflect on what you learned or what you would do differently (Reflection).
  • In your responses, emphasise your individual contributions and actions. Lead your answers with "I did X" to highlight your personal skills and accomplishments.
  • Make it clear what your specific roles were in tasks or projects, ensuring that your unique contributions and impact are at the forefront.

Research DWS

  • Thoroughly research DWS to demonstrate your genuine interest and preparation. You can refer to the Unofficial Guide to Banking for a deeper look into business areas.
  • Be knowledgeable about DWS’s competitors, market challenges, and the industry's current state.
  • Familiarise yourself with DWS's values, mission, and vision.
  • Display how these align with your personal and professional attributes and aspirations.

Yes, DWS is committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive work environment where every individual feels valued and supported. If you require specific adjustments or accommodations during the application, interview process, or within the workplace due to disability, health condition, or any other reason, we encourage you to reach out to dwsrecruitment@groupgti.com, so we can make the necessary arrangements. Rest assured, any information you provide will be treated with utmost confidentiality and sensitivity. We encourage you to also flag any of these in your online application.

Step 3

Then, your Final Interview/Assessment Centre

Final Interview

  • The final interview is a crucial phase in the intern recruitment journey. This stage involves an engaging interaction with two DWS assessors who will probe into various aspects of your professional candidacy.
  • Language flexibility is a notable feature, with interviews potentially conducted in English or German, based on the role and location to which you are applying to.

Assessment Centres

  • The assessment centres, primarily designed for graduates, are a comprehensive half-day event aimed at identifying candidates who embody the talents and competencies that align with our organisational ethos and the specific roles available.
  • The process involves a series of structured activities: a group exercise focusing on collaborative problem-solving and communication, and an interview, allowing candidates to demonstrate their critical thinking and articulation as well as technical skills for the role.

For convenience and accessibility, our virtual assessments are conducted using an established online platform, Microsoft Teams, supported by clear instructions and technical assistance to ensure a smooth participant experience. All attendees of final interviews and assessment centres will be provided with a thorough briefing call in advance of joining on the day.
Step 4

Finally, it's decision time!

After completing the interview/assessment process, you can expect to receive feedback within approximately two weeks. We understand the eagerness that comes with waiting for results, and we assure you that we diligently review every application to ensure that each candidate receives a thorough evaluation.
